The Independent State of Samoa (Samoan: Malo Saʻoloto Tutoʻatasi o Sāmoa), commonly known as Samoa (Samoan: Sāmoa, IPA: [ˈsaːmoa]; English pronunciation: /səˈmoʊə/) and, until 1997, known as Western Samoa, is a unitary parliamentary democracy with eleven administrative divisions.
